U Kubistu (Review) Bratislava

Počas vianočných trhov v našom hlavnom meste sme zablúdili do bočných uličiek a našli sme malý podnik/kaviareň/bistro U Kubistu. Zaujala nás hneď svojim logom, výkladom a vchodom. Neodolali sme a išli sme sa zohriať a niečo chutné si dať.

                We have made our way to side ailes of Bratislava during Christmas markets and found this little place/cafe/bistro „U Kubistu“. It caught our attention with the logo, window display and the entrance.  We couldn´t  resist and went in to warm ourselves up a bit and have something tasty.

 Priestor bol relatívne malý ale majitelia sa šikovne pohrali s usporiadaním stolov a umiestnením pultu, čo spôsobilo, že aj keď bistro bolo totálne plné cítili sme útulnosť či súkromie. Čo sa týka dizajnu tak ja Ka som bola úplne spokojná. Počula som názory, že je to hipsterský podnik- ale toto nie, nie! Steny biele s malými dekoráciami. Jedna stena vkusne polepená tapetou. Na pulte umiestnená veľká tabula s ponukou a obrázkami. Podlaha, stoly, lavice, stoličky z tmavého dreva. Zopár kresiel a pohodlné vankúše. Na oknách živá príroda. 

                Interior was pretty small but owners had played with the placement of tables and a bar really well so everything feels cosy and private. When it comes to design I (Ka) was satisfied. I heared people say that this is one of those hipster places but NO NO! Walls are white with a little decoration.  One wall has a nice wallpaper on. There is big chalk board on a bar table with menu and doodles. Floor, tables, chairs and benches out of dark wood. A few armchairs and comfy cusions. And live plants in windows. 

Pri príchode sme sa usadili k poslednému voľnému stolu a v priebehu minúty nám milá obsluha doniesla karafu s čistou vodou. Konečne sa rozrastá tento zvyk aj do našich podnikov. Keďže sme nemali predstavu čo si dáme a po prečítaní ponuky, ktorá bola stručná, sme dilemu nevyriešili -rozhodli sme sa pre dezerty.  K výberu boli rôzne klasiky aj netradičné pochutiny takže si každý určite zašmakuje. 

                After arrival we sat at the last free spot and in a few minutes a lovely waitress brought us a jar of water. That is a tradition that is finaly getting to our little country now. Since we had no idea what to order and reading a menu (that was pretty short)  did not help us, we went for desserts.  You could choose out of traditional and not so traditional dishes though, so you will deffinitelly be able to pick something for yourself. 

V čase čakania na naše dezerty sme sa lepšie rozhliadli po miestnosti a všimli sme si, že sa tu nenachádzajú len mladý. Pri vedľajšom stole klebetili dámy aj s malým nezbedníkom, z druhej strany starší pár posedával s novinami pri kávičke a v rohu dvaja kravaťáci popíjali vínko nad plným tanierom niečoho farebného. 

Whilst waiting for our desserts we had a tme to look around the space and we realized that there aren´t only young people. There were few ladies with kids gossiping by the table next to us , on the next side we had an older couple reading some magazines and in the corner we saw suits sippink on wine and eating something super colourfull.

Keď nám stále sa usmievajúca obsluha doniesla našu objednávku v ústach sa nám zbehli slinky. Ja som si objednala Slivkový fool s makom, rumom a toastovým ovsom. Bolo to neopísateľne chutné. Jemné, výrazné, ľahké, vyvážené. Nič také som ešte nemala.  De vyskúšala Sticky toffee puding. Tento plátok cesta bol niečo ako banánový chlieb zmiešaný s pudingom, orechmi, hrozienkami a karamelom. Porcia sa mohla poliať mliekom aby bol ešte viac mokrý alebo ako to De vyriešila namáčať si každé sústo.
Once our constantly smiling waitress brought the desserts our mouth were reaaaly excited. I (Ka ordered a Plum Fool with poppy seeds, rum and a toast oats. I can´t describe how tasty it was. Soft, light, balanced. I have never tried something like that. De however enjoyed her Sticky toffee puding much more.  This slice was something like banana bread or sponge cake mixed with nuts, dried grapes and caramel. You could pour a milk over it or as De- just dipp every piece into your milk.

Na koniec pre tých čo ešte nenavštívili tento podnik tak vrelo odporúčam sem skočiť. Menu sa mení podľa dostupností surovín, ročného obdobia takže vždy sa môžete tešiť na niečo nové. Cien sa nezľaknite. Sú typické Bratislavské ale za tú kvalitu a pôžitok tých pár eur na vyše vôbec nebolí.
So in case you haven´t been to this place yet we do recommend trying it. Offer changes with seassons and offer of vegetable/fruits...  Always something new! Don´t be surprised about the prizes. They are typical for Bratislava but it is worth the quality and taste.
